I am very pleased to welcome all the athletes, officials and guest to Zagreb.
On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of our first EUSA Championships, I would like to express our gratitude to the affiliated Members, Executive Committee, Technical Delegates and STC Members who shared the ideas and dedicated their time as well as their energy to the development of the University Sport in Europe and beyond.
On behalf of EUSA and personally, I would like to thank the Organising Committee for the efforts made in the organisation of this Championship which is a further proof of the involvement of the Croatian University Sports Federation in the University Sport Activity in Europe and of the amazing ability to run such a prestigious event .
I hope this will be an unforgettable experience for all the athletes as I believe that the future of our Association and the success of our Championships comes through you, students, who are the heart of EUSA, the main actors of the University Sport Movement.
Our events are also an opportunity to spread the values of sport, to promote the principles of friendship and understanding among different cultures, to compete for the best placing bearing in mind the importance of fair play and respect for the other participants.
I hope you will keep these values alive not only in sport but in your every day life because you are our future as you will play a fundamental role in the well-being of our society.
Welcome to the European Universities Futsal Championship!

In taking on the organisation of this great university sporting event, I cannot but reflect on the long-standing tradition of practicing sport at the University, one which dates back to the beginning of the 20th century. During the rich and 341 years-long history of this university, the date 6th of November, 1903 is recorded as the founding day of the first sport club named The Croatian Academic Sport Club, which marked the beginning of organised practicing of sport at the University of Zagreb. To this day, a significant number of sport clubs has been founded at the University, under the banners of which generations upon generations of students and their teachers participated in numerous competitions, excelling regularly and equally on various European and world championships as well as members of national teams representing Croatia at international sporting events. I am extremely pleased that the 7th European Universities Futsal Championship will bring together in our country a large number of student athletes who will, at this competition, represent around thirty universities from about twenty European countries. The significant number of contestants that will arrive to Zagreb from all across Europe in the second half of July guarantees that this event, beside being an event at which skill, sporting knowledge and sporting prowess will be put to the test, will also be an event marked by transcultural socialising and friendliness. I wish you all much success, all the while hoping that all guests of the University of Zagreb and our city will take away with them pleasant experiences and a wish to visit us again.
